- Page 10 INSTALLING THE X1616 DIGITAL HOME SYSTEM 1. Prewire The X1616 uses Cat-5 cable for remote sources. All the wire is “homerun” from each zone to the X1616. 2. The X1616 digital home systems require Cat-5, unshielded, twisted pair (UTP), for communication between the remote sources and the main X1616 unit.
