I have a Roku TV now, and have acquired a model 3800X, still looking for the remote. What can I expect with a reset 3800 in my old tv, using my existing Roku remote? Or is this advisable? Thanks

Resetting a Roku model 3800X using your existing Roku remote on a Roku TV may not resolve compatibility issues, especially with screen resolution problems reported when using older Roku sticks like the 3800X with devices such as the Tablo 4th Gen.

Users have experienced problems where 480p and 720p channels display in a small box in the upper-left corner of the screen on older Roku sticks, including the 3800X, when connected to certain TVs. These issues were not present when using newer Roku devices like the Roku Ultra or a Roku TV with built-in Roku functionality.

Resetting the device may not fix these resolution problems, as they appear to be hardware or compatibility-related. Therefore, while you can try resetting the Roku 3800X, it may not be advisable if your goal is to resolve display issues with sub-1080p channels. Upgrading to a newer Roku model may be a more effective solution.
