UV-Smart will show you the highest reading in two ways— a numerical reading (in W/m ) and a corresponding symbol that categorizes the reading as weak, medium, strong, or very strong (see Symbol Definitions).
  • Page 6 Symbol Definitions Weak: Exposure to UVA/B rays is minimal and least harmful, but some protection is still neces- sary. Most people can stay in the sun during peak hours (10 am–4 pm) up to an hour. Medium: Low risk of harm from exposure. Fair skin might burn in less than 20 minutes.

    To make sure the UV-Smart is calibrated correctly, you may perform the following procedure from time to time: 1. Place the UV-Smart in a shaded area or in a place out of direct sunlight. 2. Press the Mode button to take a reading.
  • Page 8 Important Notes • The unit should be closed when replacing batteries. • If you do not intend to use the product for a long period of time, it is recommended to remove the batteries. • Store batteries out of reach from children, in a temperate place free of excessive humidity.
