Regarding the energy resources there is also improvement
compared to the previous model E 220 CDI Estate (cf. Figure
2-16). The consumption of crude oil could be reduced nota-
bly by 29 percent. Energy resource uranium, mainly used for
car production, does rise slightly. Over the entire lifecycle,
primary energy savings of 24 percent are possible in compa-
rison to the predecessor E 220 CDI Estate. The decrease in
required primary energy by 196 gigajoule corresponds to the
energy content of approx. 5,400 litres of diesel respectively
(cf. Table 2-5).
