    Attaching the Shoulder Strap Attach the strap clips to the shoulder strap and then attach the strap to the camera. Attach a clip to the strap. Slide a clip onto the strap ( A ) and pass the strap through the strap adjuster and strap retainer ( B ).

To prevent the strap becoming detached acci- dentally, insert the clip locks as shown. The clips are small and easily swallowed; keep out of reach of children.

    Lenses and Other Optional Accessories The camera can be used with lenses and accessories for the FUJIFILM G-mount. Before attaching or removing (exchanging) lenses, attach the lens caps and check that the lenses are free of dust and other foreign mat- ter.

    Charging the Battery The battery is not charged at shipment. Before proceeding, use the supplied battery charger to fully charge the battery. An NP-T125 rechargeable battery is supplied with the camera. Charging takes about 140 minutes. Connect the plug adapter.   • Page 47 Charging the Battery Charging via AC Adapter The battery inserted in the camera will also charge when the camera is powered by an optional AC-15V AC adapter. Charging takes about 120 min- utes. Battery charge status is shown by battery status icons when the camera is on (playback mode) and by the indicator lamp when the camera is off .

    Inserting the Battery After charging the battery, insert the battery in the camera as described below. Open the battery-chamber cover. Slide the battery-chamber latch as shown and open the battery-cham- ber cover. Do not remove the battery when the camera is on. Failure to observe this precaution could damage image fi les or memory cards.

    Inserting Memory Cards Pictures are stored on memory cards (sold separately). The camera can be used with two cards, one in each of its two slots. Open the memory card slot cover. Unlatch and open the cover. Do not remove memory cards when the camera is on.

Press and release the card to eject it part way (to prevent the card falling from the slot, press the center of the card and release it slowly, without removing your fi nger from the card).

    Taking Photographs (Mode P) This section describes how to take pictures using program AE (mode P). See pages 52–61 for information on S, A, and M modes. Adjust settings for program AE. Aperture ( 52): Select A (auto). Sensitivity ( 74): Select A (auto).
  • Page 59 Taking Photographs (Mode P) Ready the camera. Hold the camera steady with both hands and brace your elbows against your sides. Shaking or unsteady hands can blur your shots. To prevent pictures that are out of fo- cus or too dark (underexposed), keep your fi ngers and other objects away from the lens.

Sound is recorded via the built-in microphone or an optional external microphone. Do not cover the microphone during recording.     P, S, A, and M Modes P, S, A, and M modes give you varying degrees of control over shutter speed and aperture. Mode P: Program AE Let the camera choose shutter speed and aperture for optimal exposure. Other values that produce the same exposure can be selected with program shift.
