After approx. 2-3 min, the water has reached the right temperature and the control lamp next to the
espresso cup lights up green. Now press the espresso button (13) and the water starts to run through.
Switch the machine off once the water has all run through. Before removing the water tank (3),
check whether the hot water tank is still under pressure. To do so, carefully open the steam nozzle
(8) by turning the steam control button (9) carefully up to the left to release the pressure left in the
hot water tank. (CAUTION, RISK OF SCALDING!!!). This procedure should be repeated several
times for the machine to work properly. It is now ready.
Before making espresso for the first time, proceed as described 2-3 times with the full quantity of
water without any coffee powder. This also applies if the machine has not been used for a longer
period of time.
Caution: All metal parts of the machine can get very hot.

Making espresso

Take the water tank (3) out of the machine.
Fill the water tank with cold tap water.
Please fill the water tank to the top. Then put the water tank (3) back into the machine.
Put a large or small filter insert (11) in the filter holder (4) as required.
Fill in the required quantity of espresso powder using the measuring spoon (10).
Remove any excess coffee powder from the edge of the filter.
Put the filter holder (with filter insert and espresso powder) with the protruding metal parts in the
recesses of the water chute and close firmly. Proceed as described under "Using for the first time"
and place a cup under the filter holder on the drip plate (7).
Check that the steam control button (9) is in the "closed" setting (button turned down to the right).
Now press the on/off button (1). The red control lamp lights up. Now wait for approx. 1-2 minutes
until the green "espresso" lamp also lights up. Now press the button (13) (espresso) so that the hot
water runs over the espresso powder into the cup. Once the required quantity of espresso has run
into the cup, switch the button (13) (espresso) off again (this stops the water chute and heats the
water up again).
The water will come to the boil again very quickly.
After making the espresso, remove the cup.
After making the espresso, release the pressure in the machine. To do so, carefully open the steam
control button (9) (turn button up to the left). The surplus steam now escapes through the steam
nozzle (8) (Caution, risk of scalding!), and the machine is depressurised.
Switch the machine off if you don't want to make any more espresso.
Clean the steam nozzle immediately after making espresso because otherwise, residues can clog the
steam pipe (see Cleaning and Care).
If several brewing procedures are necessary in succession, always let the machine cool down for
about 5 minutes in between; to do so, the machine must be switched off.
To remove the coffee grounds, turn the filter holder to the left and remove the coffee grounds by
knocking gently. The filter holder and filter can also be rinsed under running water and allowed to
drain.
Caution: All metal parts of the machine can get very hot.

Making cappuccino

First proceed as for making espresso. Now fill about 1/3 of a heat-resistant jug with milk.
You can get the best results by using fresh chilled milk (refrigerator temperature). Do not use
skimmed or low-fat milk.
The jug should only be filled about 1/3 with milk so that the milk cannot flow over.
After filling cappuccino into the cup, froth the milk with hot steam using the steam control button
(9).
