Using the Effects

The KATANA amp lets you switch between 15 types of effect by
using the buttons and knobs. You can use three types of effect
simultaneously.
Effects assigned to each knob when the unit is shipped

Press the [BOOSTER/MOD], [DELAY/FX], or [REVERB]
button to select the effect that you want to use.
Each time you press the button, its color changes.

Turn the knob to adjust the depth of the effect.

of the knob.

About the Factory-Set Effects

Effect
Explanation
BOOSTER
A crunch sound like the BOSS BD-2, creating distortion
BLUES DRIVE
that faithfully reproduces the nuances of your picking.
An overdrive sound like the BOSS OD-1, producing sweet
OVERDRIVE
and mild distortion.
DISTORTION
A standard and highly usable distortion sound.
MOD
An effect that adds a slightly modulated sound to the
CHORUS
direct signal, creating beautiful spaciousness and depth.
Produces a flanging effect which applies modulation that
FLANGER
is reminiscent of a jet airplane.
Produces a phasing effect which applies a sense of
PHASER
rotation to the sound by adding a slightly phase-shifted
sound to the direct signal.
DELAY
DIGITAL DELAY
A clear digital delay sound.
ANALOG DELAY A mild analog delay sound.
A sound with the distinctive modulation of a tape echo
TAPE ECHO
unit.
FX
TREMOLO
An effect that cyclically modulates the volume.
A wah effect that modulates a filter according to the
T.WAH
volume of the guitar, producing a wah effect.
Adds a sound one octave lower than the input,
OCTAVE
generating a sense of low-frequency solidity.
REVERB
Simulates a plate reverb (a reverb unit that uses the
PLATE REVERB
vibration of a metal plate), providing a metallic resonance
with an extended high-frequency range
Simulates the spring reverb unit built into some guitar
SPRING REVERB
amps.
HALL REVERB
Simulates the reverberation of a concert hall.

Making use of the KATANA's dedicated software

You can connect the amp via USB to your
computer, and use it with dedicated
software. Using the dedicated software
allows you to do the following:
5 Easily download dedicated effects
from Boss Tone Central (http://bosstonecentral.com)
download site into the amp.
5 Edit the effect settings.
5 Back up effects and other internal settings, or restore
settings from a backup.
You can easily download the dedicated software from our
BOSS TONE CENTRAL (http://bosstonecentral.com/) website.
