The drive used on the LH 700 Series Workstation is used to install the LH 700 Series Workstation Operating System and software. It is also used to access the LH 700 Series Workstation Assistant, Tutorials, Service and Manufacturing procedures, and with the newer systems can be used as an archive device.
Audio. There are two audio out connectors that can be used to connect to the sound card. The one used in the LH 700 Series Workstation is a 4 pin connector and is shown in Figure 9-1: Toshiba SD-M1402 DVD-ROM Hardware Configuration. It enables the Toshiba SD-M1402 DVD-ROM to play audio CDs through the computer sound card and speakers.

The main changes are in the GUI, multimedia capabilities, and network operation and administration. The change that will be noticed the most by users of an LH 700 Series Workstation is the change in philosophy of the Control Panel. All configuration items were located in the Control Panel in Windows NT 4.0.
The Regional Settings program is used to set local format configurations for time, date currency, and numerical conventions and punctuation. Although these items can be set individually in Windows 2000, the LH 700 Series Workstation looks at only one particular locale setting to determine what language options to use.

P/N: 16. LH 700 SERIES WORKSTATION APPLICATION The LH 700 Series Workstation Application is the software program that is used during the operation of the instrument. The Workstation Application, along with the operating system, is initially loaded using an imaging utility. The imaging procedure will be necessary when a new hard drive has been installed, when the hard drive data has been corrupted such that it is unusable, or if it is necessary to install an older version of software.

Contact the customer and inform the customer that RCS control will be initiated and what it involves. If it is not already connected, the base computer of the LH 700 Series Workstation must be connected to an analog phone line. For details on where to plug in the analog line, see Section 3 of this manual.
Monthly passwords are obtained from Technical Support and are made available with a Technical Update. If everything is right, a dialer prompt will appear. Type in the LH 700 Series Workstation name and phone number, both obtained from the customer.

MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING 21. REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES The base computer of the LH 700 Series Workstation has a three year warranty. For this reason, the entire computer base should be replaced when a hardware malfunction has been verified. This is the procedure that must be followed in North America.
22.5. Mouse The optical mouse used on LH 700 Series does not have any working parts to clean, unlike a traditional ball style mouse. Glass cleaner applied to a cloth can be used to clean the surface of the mouse. Never apply the glass cleaner directly to the mouse, instead spray cleaner on a cloth.
Windows 2000 is a network-based operating system. Even though it is used as a standalone client for the LH 700 Series application, the operating system requires sign on by assigned users. Workstation users are assigned authority individually such that some users have greater access to the Workstation resources that others.
