    The XR3D-6 is a 3D perspective X-ray imaging scanner designed to provide enhanced and reliable security screening at critical points-of-entry, and across multiple customer applications. Based on a single X-ray source, the XR3D-6 scanner provides automatic alerts to operators of the presence of a range of possible threats, including: explosives, weapons, sharp objects, narcotics and contraband.

    XR3D-6 Maintenance & Troubleshooting NPACKING AND XR3D-6 is shipped fully assembled with the monitor(s) packaged separately. Tools: Screwdriver with Security Chuck 3/32 Allen Key M4 Allen Key 2.1 Set 110/240 Power Setting the power requirements for your area needs to be done at installation only. To set the correct power setting for your area, proceed as follows: 1.

    Moving Caster 2.4 System Verification After the XR3D-6 is ready for operation, perform the following steps to confirm the unit functions as expected. 1. Perform a visual inspection to ensure there are no items in the tunnel which could interfere with the conveyor belt movement.

    UPS may not be started. A Supervisor can access and start the UPS. 4. Turn the Key Switch to ON. Message on Keypad - Please wait, X-ray starting. Message on Keypad - VOTI BioSans, Enter Password. 5. Enter the 4-digit Operator keypad password. Do NOT press the Enter button.

If you press the Power button after the system has started, BioSans shuts down. No data will be lost as the computer performs a safe shut down.

    1. Turn off the power to the XR3D-6 and tie a Do not Operate tag to the Circuit Breaker. 2. Remove any dirt or other debris from the camera surface or the photoelectric sensor/emitter holes (in the tunnel) using a can of compressed air.

    It means that the source is enabled to generate X-Rays but it is not powered. Since the source is not powered, there is no radiation emitted. 4. Start VOTI's Diagnostic Tool application, which is the software for the X-ray source, located at C:\MonoBlock XP\X3825 Spellman*.exe.

    The first procedure to perform before starting using the unit is to check if the leakage level is still up to the standard. This has to be performed by a VOTI trained technician. Tests are to be conducted by a Certified Radiation Technician. Leaded apron, gloves, and X-ray protective glasses are not required during the validation tests.

    7. Proceed to ‎ 3 .6.1 Measuring the X-rays. 3.6.1 Measuring the X-rays Using a Dosimeter, position the sensor 5cm from the XR3D-6 and measure all external surfaces, beginning with the front Access Panel. 1. Use a certified and calibrated survey dosimeter.

  • Page 39 XR3D-6 Maintenance & Troubleshooting If there is a difference of more than 5%, new matrices must be computed using VOTI’s proprietary software. A certified VOTI technician (or VOTI-trained Administrator) performs a 6-month or 1 year verification to ensure Z image colour ratios and an accurate atomic number. To verify the current calibration using the testing step wedges, proceed as follows: 1.
  • Page 40 XR3D must be recalibrated. The detectors used in XR3D-6 are insensitive to temperature and are protected from environmental conditions, they therefore require no adjustment.

    If there is a difference of more than 5%, redo the calibration and update the XData files in c:\Program Files\VOTI\BioSansXDAQ\Input\BIOSANS\XData. To use the Calibration application, proceed as follows: 1. Start the Calibration application by, clicking C:\Program Files\VOTI\BioSansXDAQ\ CalibrationX1-V2.exe. 2. Click Load First Plexiglass Archive to load the first Plexiglass scan from the archive folder.

Normally 2 scans per material can cover the conveyor belt. Each scan covers a specific area of the conveyor belt surface from 1 to 704 (which are the total number of detectors).

    XR3D-6 Maintenance & Troubleshooting ARDWARE ROUBLESHOOTING ROCEDURES 5.1 Wiring Overview AC/DC Power The scanner is preset at the factory to run on either 110-120VAC at 60 Hz or 220-240VAC at 50 Hz. The setting is clearly marked on the scanner near the power cord.

Ensure there is no item in the tunnel. As long as there is no item in the tunnel to trigger the sensor, X-rays are not generated.

    XR3D-6 Maintenance & Troubleshooting 2. Using the hand slots, lift the access panel, approximately a ½ inch and pull the access panel towards you. To replace the access panels, front and rear, proceed as follows: 1. Using the hand slots, lift the access panel and align the top with the opening.

Unplug the 15-pin connector and the connectors to the monitor and the UPS. 9. Unscrew 2 screws securing the computer top access panel and unclip the detector ribbon cables.

    XR3D-6 Maintenance & Troubleshooting 10. Lift out the computer and package to send back to VOTI Support. 11. Insert a new computer and replace and secure the side bolts and the stiffener bars. 12. Re-attach the detector ribbon connectors and secure the computer top access panel using 2 screws.
  • Page 77 XR3D-6 Maintenance & Troubleshooting 5. Remove both top access panels. 6. Gently pull out the rear tunnel panel cover to unlatch the cover from the bottom then lift top off the securing latches (2 per panel). 7. Remove the rear tunnel panel cover.

    XR3D-6 Maintenance & Troubleshooting 6.4 Replace Interlock Switch There are four (4) interlock switches on the scanner, two at the front and two at the back, ensuring the access panels are securely in place. A spacer is adhered to the access panel inside top corners ensuring the switch shaft is depressed.

    XR3D-6 Maintenance & Troubleshooting 6. At the front of the scanner, remove four (4) M6 x 25 SS machine screw with a 6 point security head securing the power distribution unit to the scanner. 7. Position the new power distribution unit into place and secure in place with four (4) M6 x 25 SS machine screw with a 6 point security head.

    11. Replace and secure the front access panel. 6.7 Remove and Replace the Emergency Stop Switch There is an Emergency Stop switch on each end of the XR3D-6 scanner. The Emergency Stop switch comes in a kit which must be assembled before installing on the XR3D.

The setting is marked on the scanner near the power input. Should AC power be cut, the UPS supplies power to the computer and the monitors for at least 5 seconds to safely shut down the system ensuring all data is saved.
