NOTE:
When installing timing belt, match arrow
mark on timing belt with rotating direction of
crankshaft.
In this state, No. 1 piston is at top dead cen-
ter of compression stroke.
BELT TENSIONER
9) After putting on belt, adjust belt tensioner as shown in
figure above.
The belt tensioner is spring loaded.
Remove excess slack from timing belt and tighten socket
head screw. Torque belt tensioner screw to specification
shown in chart below.
Rotate crankshaft clockwise fully twice and recheck torr-
que.

After setting belt tensioner, turn crankshaft two
rotations in clockwise direction to see if marks
(1) (2) (3) and (4) locate themselves on the same
straight line. If they do not line up straight, the
foregoing procedure must be repeated to satisfy
this requirement.
TIMING BELT
10) Install timing belt outside cover. Make sure to install
clip as shown below before installing water pump pulley.
15–23 N–m
1.5–2.3 kg–m
11.0–16.5 lb–ft
