Scratchpad versus Running Config. Configuration commands you enter during a CLI session are
stored in a temporary location called a "scratchpad", and do not get entered into the running
configuration until you perform a save active command. For details on saving changes to the
startup-config and running-config, refer to the Management and Configuration Guide on the
Documentation CD-ROM included with your switch.
Console Serial Port is only 9600 baud. There is no auto-baud detect on the switch. To connect a
console to the switch, configure your VT-100 terminal to operate with the following settings:
9600 baud rate/8 data bits/1 stop bit/no parity/no flow control.
Out of band Management Port. The 10/100Base-T Ethernet port on the management module is for
management only. It cannot be used for switching network traffic. The port is not auto-MDIX.
Setting the System Clock

information refer to the chapter on "Getting Started with Switch Configuration" in the Installation and Getting
Started Guide included with your switch. You can verify the clock settings using the show clock command.
