DCEs in a "tail circuit" configuration. A tail circuit adapter is required to couple two DCE devices whose clocks are of the same frequency but are not in phase. The Model 3004-MTE utilizes a single auto-centering buffer to prevent data errors caused by clock jitter and clock phase differences.
