    Chapter 1. Introduction Description CoolSNAP and CoolSNAP , from Roper Scientific, are ideal cameras for digital microscopy and many other biological applications. The simple, compact CoolSNAP incorporate a high-quality CCD (charge-coupled device), a 12-bit scientific digitizer, and low-noise electronics to produce high-quality 12-bit monochrome or 36-bit digital color images at greater than 1k x 1k resolution.
