Changing sound field and quality
Using the acoustic image equalizer
(AI EQ)
Achieve subtle sound quality settings with the soft, sharp, heavy,
and light coordinates, and add surround effects with the three-
dimensional settings.
Turning AI EQ on
Press [SUPER 3D AI].
Main unit:
Press [SHIFT] + [3D AI].
Remote control:
The current AI EQ mode is displayed.
Press again to select another 3D level.
Each time you press the button:
AI EQ 3D AI 1
3D AI 1: Adds a surround effect to the AI EQ.
3D AI 2: Adds a stronger surround effect to the AI EQ.

Adjusting the sound quality

Turn on AI EQ and select the level.

(Within 10 seconds)
Change the sound quality with the
cursor buttons.
Adjust softness and sharpness with [;] or [:].
Adjust heaviness and lightness with [8] or [9].
3D AI EQ
The original display is restored on the display panel in about
10 seconds.
The level and changes you make are stored and recalled the next
time you turn the AI EQ on as described above, or select it with
[SOUND EQ] ( page 31).
SHARP
To cancel
Press [SOUND EQ] to select "FLAT".

•
"3D AI 1" and "3D AI 2" cannot be selected when you are playing a
DVD (except for MIX 2CH mode,
radio.
•
"3D AI 1" and "3D AI 2" cannot be selected while a surround
system ( page 33) is on.
Using the super sound equalizer

Turning on the super sound equalizer gives you a more powerful
sound.
Press [SUPER SOUND EQ].
The indicator lights.
To cancel
Press [SUPER SOUND EQ] so the indicator turns off.
