        This document is a guide to installation techniques, standards and best practice for use when installing Avanti Broadband satellite systems. Covered in this manual are all aspects of an installation using the Hughes 9XXX terminal modem and the Hughes/Raven AN8-074R 0.74cm satellite antenna / transceiver unit. It is written for Avanti accredited installers who are familiar with satellite installation practices and are capable of properly applying the information contained herein.

  • Page 50             11.14 Setting the polarization on the Jupiter Transceiver. Setting the required polarization on the Jupiter transceiver is fairly straight forward, when the unit is  received new it will be set in RHCP so if this is correct for the beam you are working in you only need to  double check this is correct. If you are working in a beam which is LHCP then the waveguide will need to be  adjusted, to accomplish this complete the following steps.  1. Firstly look at the neck of the feed horn assembly where it meets the main body of the transceiver  and identify a). The arrow on the neck of the wave guide. b). The L and R markings on the main  body.          2. As can be seen in picture one above the arrow on the waveguide is pointing at the R mark so this is  set to RHCP. To change this to LHCP remove the four Allen studs seen above and rotate the  waveguide anti‐clockwise through 90° so the arrow points to the L symbol (See below) ensure the  sealing washer remains in place and replace and fully tighten the four Allen stubs, the unit it now  set for LHCP.          Avanti Installation Manual 2.0...
