The EMF1394DL is ideal for measuring the intensity of electromagnetic and magnetic fields produced by power lines, industrial machinery, and home appliances (computer and TV monitors).

    • 1-year limited warranty WHAT’S IN THE PACKAGE The EMF1394DL comes in a box along with Windows-compatible data logging software on CD, a pre-installed 4GB MicroSD card, a cable with a full-size USB plug at one end and a mini-USB plug at the other, six “AAA” batteries and this user’s manual.
  • Page 4 BACK OF UNIT Triple readout LCD. In normal display mode, upper readout shows total (triaxial) EMF intensity and lower readouts show current day and hour and current minute and second. In alternate display mode, upper readout shows field intensity on x axis and lower readouts show field intensity on y and z axes.

    MEM button. Used to: a) Manually store displayed reading(s) in meter’s internal memory at indicated location number; b) Begin automatic logging of three-axis EMF readings onto MicroSD card at selected sampling time, and c) Erase contents of meter’s internal memory and contents of MicroSD card.

    Complete Setup by carefully removing the plastic film protecting the LCD. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS MEASURING REAL-TIME EMF INTENSITY To power on the EMF1394DL, press and hold the green button (Callout 2) for at least 3 seconds. The unit will sound a long beep and the LCD will illuminate.

To switch to one of the three available manual ranges, press the Range button (Callout 6). Pressing the button causes the symbol R to appear in the upper left corner of the LCD.

    EMF intensity at multiple distances from a device and/or the intensity of multiple devices. The session begins when you power on the EMF1394DL; it typically ends 15 minutes after you finish making measurements with the activation of the meter’s APO function.

    AUTOMATIC DATA LOGGING In addition to manually storing up to 99 readings, the EMF1394DL can automatically log thousands of triaxial EMF intensity readings on its pre- installed 4GB MicroSD card.
  • Page 10 Before beginning to data log, you should: 1) Disable the meter’s APO function so the meter will not shut itself down after 15 minutes of front-panel inactivity. To disable APO: a) Power off the meter; b) Power it back on in a special way by pressing and holding the button while pressing and holding the button for at least 3 seconds.

  • Page 12 If you do not carefully note the positions of the MicroSD card and bracket as you move the bracket and remove the card, replacing the MicroSD card in the meter will be difficult. The photos on the previous page should help. If you do not re-install the card correctly, instead of seeing SdHC 2.0 on the LCD during the next meter startup you will see the following message: Sd Card Fail.
