Error messages
If there is a malfunction, the display shows a message. You can
check the condition of the system by the message. See the
following table to solve the problem. If any problem persists,
consult your nearest Sony dealer.
If an error message appears while you perform Auto Calibration,
see "When error codes appear" to solve the problem.
PROTECTOR
Irregular current is output to the speakers, or the upper panel of
the receiver is covered with something. The receiver will
automatically turn off after a few seconds.
Check the speaker connection and turn on the power again.
If you are unable to remedy the problem using
the troubleshooting guide
Clearing the receiver's memory may remedy the problem.
However, note that all memorized settings will be reset to their
factory settings and you will have to readjust all settings on the
receiver.
Performing initial setup operations
Before using the receiver for the first time, initialize the receiver
by performing the following procedure. This procedure can also
be used to return settings you have made to their factory defaults.
Be sure to use the buttons on the receiver for this operation.

After "Clear All" appears on the display for a while,
"Press ENT" appears.

Press MEMORY/ENTER.
After "CLEARING" appears on the display for a while,
"CLEARED" appears.
All the settings you have changed or adjusted are reset to the
initial settings.

While holding down MUSIC, press / .
"S.F. CLEAR" appears on the display and all sound fields are
reset to their initial setting.
When error codes appear
Check the problem of the error and perform Auto Calibration
again.

the optimizer microphone is connected properly and
perform the measurement again. If the optimizer
microphone is connected properly but the error code
appears, the optimizer microphone cable may be
damaged or improperly connected.

: 33 • None of the front speakers are connected or only
one front speaker is connected.
• The optimizer microphone is not connected.
• Either the left or right surround speakers is not
connected.
• Surround back speakers are connected even though
surround speakers are not connected. Connect the
surround speaker(s) to the SURROUND terminals.
• The surround back speaker is connected only to the
SPEAKERS SURROUND BACK/BI-AMP/
FRONT B R terminals. When you connect only one
surround back speaker, connect it to the
SPEAKERS SURROUND BACK/BI-AMP/
FRONT B L terminals.
