e Relaxationshrinkagecan occurin knit fabricsthat havebeen improperlystretched
and elongatedby the manufacturer. W henthis occurs,garmentmay be pressedback
into shapeaftereach wash and dry cycle.
*Progressiveor delayed! s hrinkageis causedwhen starchor sizing(in somefabrics)
is graduallyremovedby laundering. T his may also be noticedin oldergarmentsthat
havebeen washedmanytimeswithoutpreviousshrinkage.Treatas for relaxation
shrinkageabove.
e Shrinkagecausedby overheatingoccursin certainknit fabricsthathavebeen heat-
shaped.When washing,dryingor ironingtemperaturesexceedthe temperaturesused
to shapeset, shrinkagemay occur.This cannotbe comected, b ut it can be prevented
by washingin coolor warm waterand dryingon low or delicateheat.
~Leavingclothesin dryeraftertumblingstops.Removeandhang clothesimmediately.
oToomanyclothesin dryer.Dry only one washerload at a time. Do not combineloads.
~Improperloads.Avoidlaunderirig heavypemanent press items, suchas work clothes,
with lighterpermanentpress itemssuchas shirtsor blouses.Do not washpermanent
press itemswith regularlaundry.
~Toomany clothesin washer.Permanentpressloadsshouldalwaysbe smallerthan
regularloads...no more than mediumloadsto giveclothesroomto movefreely.

Incorrectwash and dry cycles.Use PermanentPressWashcyclewhichprovides
a cooldownrinse to minimizeWritiing. Alsouse PermanentPress Dry cycle.

e Repeatedwashingin too hot water.Washin coldor warmwater withplentyof
detergent.

@ Pins on garmentsor sharpobjectslefi in pockets.Checkto make sure all such objects
are removed.Also checkwash tub.
~Snaps,hooks,sharpbuttons,belt buckles,zippers.Fastenhooks,zippersand buttons.
Removesharpbuttonsand belt buckles.This is especiallyimportantin washingknits
which snageasily.Turn knits insideout.
~Holeswith randomsquareshapeswith yellowdiscoloration may be causedby
improperuse of chlorinebleach.Use only correctamountof bleach,See Other
LaundryProductssection.Neveradd undilutedbleachto wash tub or allowclothes
to come into contactwith undilutedbleach.Do not wipeup bleach spillswith clothes.
~Small,unnoticedtears may enlargeduringwashingprocess.Check garmentsbefore
washingand mend all rips and tears.
