As you can see, there's not much to it! 8 Pack Trinity AA Alkaline batteries for the transmitter Part # 837801 Small Phillips-Head Screwdriver and Small Adjustable Wrench PRO TIP The Lazy E-Bee RTF includes a 7 cell Nickel Metal-Hydride flight battery and a 2 hour AC wall charger to charge the flight battery.

SECTION 4: ASSEMBLING YOUR LAZY E-BEE RTF STEP 1: INSTALLING THE TRANSMITTER BATTERIES Carefully remove the battery cover from the back of the transmitter by pulling down on it with one hand while holding the transmitter with your other hand. Install 8 fresh AA Alkaline batteries, being careful to make sure that the polarity is correct for each battery.
  • Page 7: Step 3: Installing The Rudder

IMPORTANT Make sure that when you install the horizontal tail the clear plastic control horn is toward the TOP of the fuselage. Carefully slide the horizontal tail into the slot in the back of the fuselage. When aligned properly, the horizontal tail should be pushed forward completely and the outside edges of the strips of double-sided tape should be centered with the outside edges of the fuselage, on both the top and...
  • Page 8: Step 5: Installing The Landing Gear

STEP 4: CONNECTING THE PUSHROD WIRES IMPORTANT When you insert the bend in the pushrod wires into the plastic control horns in the next two procedures, the elevator (control surface on the back of the horizontal tail) and rudder might not be centered. That's okay for now.
  • Page 9: Step 6: Installing The Propeller

While holding the landing gear assembly centered, carefully secure each rubber band over the notch in the plastic landing gear mount and the corresponding plastic mount on the side of the fuselage. The rubber bands will hold the landing gear assembly in place while giving it shock absorbing action.
  • Page 10: Step 7: Installing The Wing

STEP 7: INSTALLING THE WING Set the wing onto the top of the fuselage. Center the wing from side to side, then secure it into place, using two rubber bands. The rubber bands are hooked around the plastic mount on each side of the fuselage and the plastic post at the front of the wing saddle.

Plug the connector on the flight battery into the connector that is inside the fuselage. When plugged in properly the connectors should "click" together. IMPORTANT As a safety feature, the connectors can only be plugged in one way. Push the flight battery into the molded slot in the fuselage, making sure that it's pushed firmly into place.
  • Page 12 First, make sure that the on/off switch on the transmitter is in the "ON" position and that the flight battery is installed and plugged in. The wing should be installed, too. WARNING Do not press the red motor arming switch yet. Carefully adjust the three control trim tabs on the transmitter so that they are centered, as shown.
  • Page 13: Section 6: Getting Ready To Fly Your Lazy E-Bee Rtf

If the elevator and rudder are not centered, but the trim tabs on the transmitter are centered, use your fingers to carefully adjust the bend in the pushrod wire until each control surface is centered. Now, test the operation of the motor. Double-check that the throttle control stick is pulled completely back. While keeping clear of the propeller, press the red motor safety arming switch on the right side of the fuselage once.
  • Page 14 STEP 2: CHOOSING A DAY TO FLY Until you become a proficient flyer you should always plan on flying your airplane when there's no wind. We strongly suggest waiting for a calm day. If it's windy out and you attempt to fly, it will only make learning to fly the airplane more difficult.
  • Page 15: Section 7: Your First Flight

SECTION 7: YOUR FIRST FLIGHT After all this, I bet you're ready to actually go flying! If you've skipped anything prior to this section, we suggest going back through the instructions. Doing so will help ensure your success. WARNING *** WARNING *** WARNING *** WARNING *** WARNING *** WARNING If at any time during your flight, the airplane gets stuck up in a tree, in power lines or on a roof top, DO NOT attempt to retrieve it yourself.
  • Page 16 FLYING THE LAZY E-BEE RTF Now that the airplane has climbed to a safe altitude you can begin to learn the basics of flight. General flying should be done with the motor at full power. You control the altitude of the airplane by moving the right-hand control stick either forward or back.
  • Page 17: Section 8: Flight-Trimming The Lazy E-Bee Rtf

PRO TIP If you need to turn the airplane while descending for landing, make gentle, shallow turns. Making steep turns may cause the airplane to stall and crash. Also, you should just try to land anywhere on your flying field, as long as it's into the wind.
