Instructions for use
• Always observe the safety instructions
and applicable regulations.
• For your own safety, always use the tool
with both hands.
• Be aware of the location of pipework and
wiring.
• Apply only a gentle pressure to the tool
(approx. 20 kg). Excessive force does
not speed up drilling or chiselling but
decreases tool performance and may
shorten tool life.
Switching on and off (fig. F)
• To switch on the tool, press the lower part of the
on/off switch (1).
• To switch off the tool, press the upper part of the
on/off switch (1).
Chipping and chiselling (fig. A)
• Insert the appropriate chisel and rotate it by hand
to lock it into one of 24 positions.
• Set the electronic speed and impact control dial (3).
• Fit and adjust the side handle (8).
• Switch on the tool and start working.
• Always switch off the tool when work is finished
and before unplugging.
Various types of SDS-max
available as an option.
Consult your dealer for further information on the
appropriate accessories.

Maintenance

Your D
WALT power tool has been designed to

operate over a long period of time with a minimum
of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation
depends upon proper tool care and regular cleaning.
Service indicator LEDs (fig. B)
The yellow brushwear indicator LED (4) lights up
when the carbon brushes are nearly worn out.
After a further 8 hours of use, the brushes have
completely worn out and the motor will automatically
be shut off.
• The carbon brushes are not user-serviceable.

Accessory maintenance (fig. G)
Accessory maintenance at the right time guarantees
optimal results in application and a long and efficient
accessory life.
• Grind the chisels on grinding discs. Refer to fig.
G for the appropriate angles of the following chisels:
– spade-shaped chisel (16)
– cold chisel (17)
– pointed chisel (18)
– U-shaped chisel (19)
– hollow chisel (20)
– mortar chisel (21)
– toothed chisel (22)
These chisels can be reground only
a limited number of times. If in doubt,
contact your dealer for recommendations.
Ensure that the cutting edge does not
show discolouration caused by too
much pressure. This may impair the
hardness of the accessory.
Lubrication
Your power tool requires no additional lubrication.
Cleaning
Keep the ventilation slots clear and regularly clean
the housing with a soft cloth.

Protecting the environment

Separate collection. This product must
not be disposed of with normal
household waste.
