or allow hair, sand, dirt or other debris to accumulate between the
waterproof seal and the housing. This may cause an accident,
present a burn hazard, or cause the housing to leak.
• Do not use the waterproof housing in water at temperatures above
104°F (40 °C); this may cause an accident, present a burn hazard,
or cause the housing to leak.
• Do not leave the waterproof housing in direct sunlight, inside a car
in hot weather, or near a heater; this may cause an accident,
present a burn hazard, or cause the housing to leak. If you have to
leave it in the sun, cover the housing with a towel.
• Do not subject the waterproof housing to shocks. The lens may
shatter and lead to personal injury.
HANDLING PRECAUTIONS
1 Avoid opening or closing the waterproof housing near water.
When you are installing the camera or changing the memory
card or the battery pack, choose a place with low humidity well
away from salty sea air.
2 Use only the supplied silicone grease on the waterproof seal.
Use of other waterproofing products may impair the strength of
the waterproof housing. If any other waterproofing product is
mistakenly applied, wipe it off immediately.
3 Before going into or getting out of the water, handle the
waterproof housing carefully in order to prevent damage or loss.
4 Avoid using the waterproof housing for long periods of time in
hot temperatures. The waterproof housing interior will become hot
which can damage the camera. When using the housing on hot,
sunny days, do not leave the waterproof housing in direct sunlight
and turn off the camera regularly.
5 Remove sand and debris from the spaces surrounding the
buttons and zoom lever by rinsing them with water. Do not use
the buttons or zoom lever while sand or debris is present.
6 Battery life is reduced in cold temperatures. When you use the
waterproof housing in very cold places, keep it warm by putting it
in a bag whenever you are not shooting. It is not advisable to use
the waterproof housing in temperatures below the freezing point.

7 Moving the waterproof housing rapidly between hot and cold
temperatures may cause condensation (water drops) to form on
its internal surfaces. If this occurs, stop using the camera
immediately, wipe off the condensation from the interior and the
camera with a soft, dry cloth and wait about two hours before
resuming use.
ABOUT WATER LEAKAGE
If the waterproof housing leaks, stop using the camera immediately.
Do not use it in this state under any circumstance. If you use the

housing interior and the camera with a clean, soft cloth until they
are dry.
NOTES REGARDING THE WATERPROOF HOUSING
1 Because the waterproof seal is designed to ensure that the
waterproof housing remains waterproof, it is important that you
observe the following:
•
Perform a rolling motion with your fingertip to remove the
waterproof seals from the waterproof housing so you do not
damage the seals.
•
Do not dig your fingernails into the waterproof seals or use
pointed or metallic objects to remove them.
•
Do not forcibly pull a waterproof seal. Forcibly pulling a seal
may overstretch it which may cause the waterproof housing
not to close properly, resulting in leaks.
•
While attaching a waterproof seal, do not forcibly twist or pull
the seal. Extreme care should be taken to ensure the
waterproof seal is level around the entire length of its
mounting groove.
•
Before every use, check to ensure that the waterproof seals
are working (See Section: PREPARING THE WATERPROOF
HOUSING).
2 Make sure you inspect the waterproof seals before use. Debris
(e.g. hair, sand, lint or dirt) stuck to the waterproof seal may cause
leaks. Even a single strand of hair or a tiny grain of sand caught in
the seal can cause leaks.
3 Be careful not to apply too much of the supplied grease; applying

housing to burst or otherwise cause damage to the camera.
• Do not use the waterproof housing as a personal flotation device

PREPARING THE WATERPROOF HOUSING

a clean, dry, lint-free cloth making certain that the cloth touches
both the sides and the bottom of the groove as you clean around
the entire length of the groove.
7 Make sure the seals are not cracked or damaged. If a seal is only
