drying,the enteringwatermustbe

How
to
test
w atertemperature:
Checkyourwatertemperature
insideyourdishwasher w itha
candyor meatthermometer.
Letthe dishwasherrun through
onefilland pumpoutcycle,then
letthe dishwasherfill withwater
thesecondtime.
Whenyouhearthe waterstop
filling,unlatchthe doorand slowly
openit.
Measurethe temperatureof the
waterin the bottomof thetub this
way:
Removethe silverwarebasketand
placea candyor meatthermometer
in the watertowardsthe middleof
the tub. If the temperatureis less
than 120°F, y ouwill not getgood
washingresults. Higherwater
temperatureis neededto dissolve
grease and activatepowder
detergents.
Helpfulhints: If outside
temperatures a re unusually low,or
if yourwatertravelsa longdistance
fromwaterheatertodishwasher,
youmayneedto setyourwater
heater's thermostat u p.If youhave
notusedhotwaterforsometime,
thewaterin thepipeswillbecold.
Turnon thehotwaterfaucetat the
sinkandallowit torun untilthe
wateris hot. Thenstartthe
dishwasher. I f you've recently
donelaundryor runhotwaterfor
showers, g iveyourwaterheater
timeto recoverbeforeoperatingthe
dishwasher.
Toimprove washability if thewater
is lessthan 120°F andyoucannot
adjustyourwaterheater:Selecta
longercycleandfillbothdetergent
cupsat leasthalf-full w ithdetergent.
How tome a rime went.
A rinseagentmakeswaterflow
offdishesquickerthanusual.This
lessenswaterspottingandmakes
dryingfaster,too.
For bestdishwashing performance,
useof a rinseagentsuchas JET-
DRYbrandis recommended.
Rinseagentscomein eitherliquid
or solidform. Yourdishwasher's
dispenserusestheliquidform.

dispenser.Unscrewthe cap.Add
the liquidrinse agentuntilitjust
reachesthe bottomofthe lip inside
the dispenseropening.Replacethe
cap. Thedispenserautomatically
releasesthe rinseagentintothe
finalrinsewater.

up the rinseagentwitha damp
cloth. Don'tleavethe spillin the
dishwasher. I t can keepyour
detergentfrom working.

First,useonlypowder or liquid

Second,checkthe phosphate
content. P hosphate helpsprevent
hard-water m aterialsfromforming
spotsor filmonyourdishes.If
yourwateris hard(7 grainsor
more),yourdetergent h asto work
harder.Detergents witha higher
phosphate levelwillprobablywork
better.If thephosphate contentis

low(8.7% or less),you'llhaveto
useextradetergentwithhardwater.

How much detergentshouldyou

needlessdetergent.
Toomuchdetergentwith softwater
not onlywastesmoney,it can be
harmful.It can causea permanent
cloudinessof glassware,called
