Infrared Data Communications

Your computer is equipped with an infrared communications port enabling you to trans-
fer data without a cable.
Preparations for Infrared Data Communications
Set the address of your infrared communications port to enable. (
Be sure the computers are not in direct contact with one another.
A port-to-port distance of 20 cm to 50 cm {8" to 20"} is recommended.
Problems with infrared data communications
An object is located between both ports.
There are other electronic devices nearby causing interference, such as a televi-
sion, VCR, wireless headphone, etc.
Direct sunlight or white glowing light, such as fluorescent lighting; can cause inter-
ference with communications between the ports.
When moving your computer while it is transmitting/receiving data.

Press F10 , then select [Yes]

In [Start] - [Settings] - [Control Panel], select [Wireless Link]

Add the check mark for [Allow others to send files to your
computer using infrared communications] in [File Transfer] and
then [OK]
Data Communications
NOTE
Be sure to enable the use of the Infrared Communication Port in the same
way for the computer with which communications will take place. It is possible
to confirm whether infrared communications is possible with another com-
puter by selecting [File Transfer] in [Start] - [Settings] - [Control Panel] - [Wire-
less Link].

Position your computer so that the infrared communication
port is face-to-face with the port of another computer

Double-click [Wireless Link] on the desktop on the computer
that will send a file

Select the file to be sent, and then press [Send]

Press [Yes] on the computer that will receive the file and after
receiving the file, press [Close]
It will be sent to the desktop of the receiving computer.
NOTE
Infrared communications cannot be performed with a computer running
an Operating System (OS) other than Windows 98 or Windows 2000.
Communications at 4 Mbps is not supported due to the lack of software.
