Instructions (Cont.)
4. Press ON/CANCEL, then press the desired
temperature button (BOIL, 80°, 85°, or 90°, see
Fig.2). The indicator light will glow and the water
will start heating up. Ensure that the lid is firmly
closed. Do not open the lid during use.
5. The kettle will automatically turn itself off
when the water has reached the selected
temperature. The power indicator will no longer
be illuminated.
6. Wait until the water inside the kettle has completely
stopped bubbling before pouring. Remove the
kettle from the power base by gripping the handle
and lifting it off the power base.
CAUTION: Take care when pouring the water to
avoid scalding from boiling water or hot steam.
Do not open the lid while the water in the kettle
is hot.
7. To stop the heating process at any time during
operation, press ON/CANCEL (see Fig.3).
8. To re-boil the water, allow the kettle to cool for 30~60
seconds before pressing BOIL again (see Fig.2).
9. To keep the water warm, press 80°, 85°, or 90°. The
water will be kept warm for 30 minutes (see Fig.4).
10. The kettle may be stored on the power base, but
make sure that the power supply is turned off
when the kettle is not in use.
This kettle allows different temperature selections.
Most black tea requires 100°C. But Green tea,
Jasmine tea and Sencha tea are at their best at 80°C.
You can also use the temperature settings to keep the
water at the selected temperature, so that you won't
have to spend as much time boiling the kettle if you
need to use it again. For a general temperature guide,
see the table on the right.
If you accidentally allow the kettle to operate without water, the boil-dry
protection will automatically turn it off. If this occurs, allow the kettle to cool
before filling it with cold water and re-boiling.

Other Useful Information
Cleaning and care
WARNING: Always disconnect the kettle from the power outlet and allow it to
cool before cleaning.
WARNING: Never immerse the kettle, cord or power base in water. All
connections and sockets must be kept dry.
The outside of your kettle only requires occasional wiping with a damp cloth and,
if necessary, a mild, non-abrasive household detergent. Then wipe dry.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to the kettle, do not use scouring pads, steel
wool, solvents or harsh chemical or alkaline cleaning agents.
Removal of mineral deposits
From time to time, you may need to clean off any mineral deposits (limescale) left
by water inside your kettle, to keep it operating efficiently. How often you have
to do this depends on the water hardness in your area and on how often you use
the kettle. If scaling is a problem in your area, it is important that you clean the
inside of the kettle regularly as scale build-up will damage the heating element
and impair the boil-dry safety feature.
You can use a commercially available descaling agent for household products
(according to the instructions on the packet) or a simple water and vinegar
solution to descale the kettle. Follow the steps below.
1. Fill the kettle with 3 cups of white vinegar and the remainder with water.
2. Let this mixture stand in the kettle overnight. Do not boil.
3. Empty the solution from the kettle. Any stains remaining inside the spout can
be removed by rubbing with a damp cloth.
4. Fill the kettle with fresh, clean water, let it boil and then discard the water.
Repeat with clean, fresh water until all traces of vinegar are removed.
Cleaning the filter
Clean the filter regularly to ensure an easy flow of water. Take out the filter from
behind the spout by opening the lid and pulling the filter's latch. Under running
water, rub the filter gently with your fingers. Be careful not to use anything that
could tear or damage the filter when cleaning.
Descale the filter at regular intervals. Soak it in a descaling solution, rub off any
residues gently with your fingers and then rinse the filter thoroughly.
It is possible that spots of what looks like rust may appear on the base. This
is caused by impurities in the water, it is not a fault.
