STARTING/STOPPING
YOUR GENERATOR
BEFORE STARTING YOU GENERATOR- IT MUST BE GROUNDED FIRST!
GROUNDING
Before operating make sure to ground the generator. A ground terminal identified by
the ground symbol can be found on the front control panel of the generator, attach
a metal spike to a wire, attach the wire to the ground terminal and ground the metal
spike into the earth. You local electrical company or certified electrician should be
able to help you with this information. See Fig.4
STARTING YOUR GENERATOR
WARNING! Do not adjust or attempt maintenance of engine
without consulting an authorized service center.
Never run engine indoors or in enclosed, poor ventilated areas,

engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless and
deadly gas!
Make sure all electrical appliances are unplugged before attempting to start
generator!
1) Turn breaker (C) Fig.6 "ON" by lifting it upwards.
2) Open the fuel shut-off valve (A) Fig.5 by lowering it.
3) Pull the choke control hook (B) Fig.5 away from the engine to the OFF position.
NOTE: No choke is required on warm engines. Make sure choke is pushed all the
way towards the engine to the ON position on warm engine starts.
4) Insert starter key (A) Fig.6 into ignition (B), turn key to "ON" position. Make sure
the low oil warning light does not come on. Turn and hold the key until the engine
starts.

5) If the electric key starter does not turn engine over (battery may need to be
charged or replaced), it is still possible to start the engine using the recoil starter handle (C) Fig.5. First make sure the ignition key is in the
"ON" position. Pull the recoil starter handle (C) until resistance is felt, then pull it out with a rapid full arm stroke. Let the starter rope rewind
slowly, repeat if necessary.
NOTE: IF ENGINE OIL LEVEL IS TOO LOW, ENGINE WILL NOT START. CHECK
OIL LEVEL AND ADD IF NECESSARY.
6) When engine starts, gradually push the choke hook (B) towards the engine Fig.5
to the ON position.
IMPORTANT: Allow generator to run at no load for 5 minutes upon each initial
start-up to allow engine and generator to stabilize.
STOPPING YOUR GENERATOR
Make sure all electrical appliances are unplugged before stopping the
generator!

1) Turn breaker (C) Fig.6 "OFF" by lowering it.
2) Turn the ignition key (A) Fig.6 to the "OFF" position.
3) Close the fuel shut-off valve (A) Fig.5 by bringing it upwards.
