gap.
Keep itdean.
An air gap is a plumbingdevice.
It protectsyour dishwasheragainst
water backing up into it if a drain
clogs. The air gap is not a part of
the dishwasher.And you may not
even haveone. Not all plumbing
codes require air gaps.
If you have an air gap, check it
at least once a month. IT 1SN~OT
PARTOF YOUR DISHWASHER.
IT IS NOT COVERED IN YOUR
WARRANTY.
The air gap is easy to clean.
With most types, first turn off the
dishwasher, then lift off the chrome
cover. Then unscrew the plastic cap
and check for any build-up of grit.
A toothpick makes cleaning easy.
Check the air gap any time your
dishwasher isn't draining well.

Protect
against
freezing.
If your dishwasheris left in an
unheatedplace during the winter,
ask a service technicianto:
@ Cut off electric power to the
dishwasher.Removefuses or trip
circuit breaker.
~ Turn off the water supply.
~ Disconnectthe water inlet line
from the water valve.
~ Drain water from the inlet line
and water valve. (Use a pan to
catch the water.)
@ Reconnectthe water inlet line to
the water valve.
~ Removethe plastic pump cover in
the tub bottom and use a spongeto
soak up water in the rubber boot.
