200 F DYSSEY EATURES AND ONTROLS VERVIEW This section includes illustrations of the player from various perspectives and identifies features and controls. Microphone Joystick The Joystick performs a variety of functions depending on which mode the player is in. For example, press and release the Joystick to power the player on and off.

You will see an animated display followed by a check of the player’s internal memory and if installed, SMC memory. To shut off your Odyssey 200 press and hold the POWER OFF button. Or, the player will automatically shut off after three minutes of inactivity, for example, in Play Mode, but not during music playback or Radio Mode.

Each mode is briefly described below, for detailed information about a particular mode, see the pro- vided page reference. Play Mode is the initial mode when you first turn on the player. This mode is used to display music and voice tracks; three tracks on each display. Use the Joystick to navigate and select a track to play.
Chapter 3: Install Software Before you can use your Odyssey 200 you must install the e.Digital Odyssey Manager software and MusicMatch software. MusicMatch is third-party software that you can use on your PC to rip (create) MP3 files from a music CD.

6. In the Select Program Folder dialog click Next to select the default Program Folder. 7. The e.Digital Odyssey Manager software begins to install and progress is displayed in the Setup Status dialog. Once the e.Digital Odyssey Manager software installation is complete, the next step is to Install MusicMatch Software.
PC. If you already have a favorite CD ripping pro- gram, you can use that instead. MusicMatch for Windows software is included on the e.Digital installation CD. However, if you use a Mac, you may have to download the Mac version from in Step 3 a.
If the Setup dialog does not appear when you click the musicmatch Jukebox button, your Internet browser opens to www.edig.com/product-support b. Click on the Odyssey 200 and select the MusicMatch for the Mac link. This link will jump to the current download location on the musicmatch.com website.

8. In the Hardware Installation dialog, click the Continue Anyway button. 9. The Odyssey 200 USB driver is installed; click the Finish button. 10. Remove the installation CD from the drive. Now you are ready to Rip and Add Music to your player.
Chapter 4: Rip and Add Music To begin enjoying your Odyssey 200, you must create and transfer the digital files from your PC. This chapter describes how to: • Create Digital Music Files. • Configure MusicMatch for Windows on page 24.

1. Open MusicMatch. 2. Select the Options > Settings menu. 3. Select the Recorder tab. 4. In the CD Quality box near the top of the dia- log, select MP3 (128 kbps). At this Recording Quality, one minute of music requires about one megabyte of memory storage.

But since you will be ripping music, you must open the MusicMatch Recorder window by clicking the record button. 4. Before you connect the player to your PC with the provided USB cable, ensure your player is stopped. 1. Insert the larger end of the USB cable into the PC USB port. 2. On the player, open the rubber lid of the USB port and connect the smaller end of the cable to the player.
With the Odyssey Manager software you can also Other Files transfer non-music files to your player and use your Odyssey 200 as a transport device for data files. To transfer other file types, use the same instruc- tions described in the previous section but instead of selecting music, select the other files.
Repeat Option. Otherwise, follow the steps described below. To change the playback order of the files on your Odyssey 200: 1. Connect the USB Cable to your player and PC. 2. Start the Odyssey Manager software. 3. Select the File > Change File Order menu.

When you turn on the Odyssey 200, the LCD shows the initial Play Mode with three tracks listed. Use the Joystick to navigate and select a track to play. Note if you do not press any buttons during this selection state, the player will shut off automat- ically after three minutes.

Use the Joystick To Change Stations Press the MODE button until the player is in FM Radio Mode. Attach the earphones to the player to improve reception, and then use the Joystick and tune to an FM station. In Radio Mode, the Joy- stick has the following features: Short slide of the Joystick to the right will tune up by a frequency of 0.05MHz.
Create The Odyssey 200 comes with 128MB of internal Voice storage which can hold up to 8.5 hours of voice Recordings recordings. When you have music files on your player, less memory is available for voice files. Voice files are stored to the players internal memory, that is, you cannot record to the SMC.

SMC M EMORY PTION In addition to the 128MB of internal memory on your Odyssey 200, you can extend your player’s memory by purchasing an SMC (SmartMedia Card). Note, the SMC must only be the 3.3V version; 5V versions will not work correctly with the Odyssey 200.

Your Odyssey 200 includes a feature to download Asian language support from the Odyssey Manager software. The Odyssey 200 must have 2MB of free space of internal memory. Note that only one language is supported at a time. If you want to switch to a dif- ferent language, you must erase the previous lan- guage before downloading the new one.
