Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your new Puretone digital hearing system which your hearing care professional has chosen and adjusted to suit your personal requirements. In order to gain the maximum benefit from the system it is recommended that you read this user guide thoroughly to familiarise yourself with the control panel and various functions available. -

The type of battery used in your hearing system will depend upon the model you have. Size 13 Models: Orange P640P P640S P660P P680SW Size 312 Brown Models: P660M P680MW Puretone recommends PureCell Plus batteries. Replacement batteries and accessories are available from your hearing care professional or from www.puretoneretail.net. -

Battery Installation Open the battery compartment by using the finger nail notch on the edge of the battery tray as shown in fig. 1. Remove the used battery if present. Pull off the protective sticker on the new battery using the tab provided and wait a few seconds for air to enter and begin to activate. -

Volume Control The volume control will allow the volume of hearing system to be increased or decreased. 1. ) Digital VC: P680SW 2.) Analogue VC: P640P P640S P660P 1. To increase the volume, push the volume control up or move the wheel upwards. -

Switching On Always adjust the volume control to the lowest setting (‘1’ - see page 10) before activating the hearing system. When the battery door is closed (with a battery inserted), the hearing system turns on, and the default program will be activated. Additional Features (Only applicable to P680 models) Your hearing system supports wireless functionality and can be paired with a wireless accessory like a TV Streamer so you can activate streaming mode. 1. Press and hold the push button for 2 seconds. 2. -

Additional Features Telephone Use Finding the optimal position for holding a telephone may require practice for some individuals, and 1 or more of the following suggestions may be helpful. 1. Hold the telephone as you would normally. 2. Hold the telephone towards the top of the ear (closer to where the microphones are). -

Additional Features AutoPhone (optional) The AutoPhone function, allows your hearing system to automatically switch to your telephone program when a telephone receiver with an AutoPhone magnet is raised to the ear. When the telephone receiver is removed from the ear, the hearing system automatically returns to the previous listening program. - Page 16 Additional Features AutoPhone Warnings 1. Keep magnets out of reach of pets and children. If a magnet is swallowed, please seek advice from a medical practitioner. 2. The AutoPhone magnet may affect some medical devices or electronic systems. The manufacturer of any magnetically sensitive devices (e.g. pacemakers) should advise you regarding appropriate safety precautions when using your hearing system and magnet in close proximity to the medical device or electronic system in question.

Additional Features Telecoil (optional) If equipped, a telecoil can be activated by your hearing care professional and accessed through one of the additional programs. A telecoil picks up a telephone’s magnetic signal and converts it to sound. An optional telephone program may help to improve speech understanding on the telephone. -

Additional Features Direct Audio Input Use of Direct Audio Input (DAI), which enables a direct connection of the hearing system to items such as television, radio, and remote microphones, may increase speech understanding for some individuals. The sound source is connected to the hearing system by a cable or a wireless FM system to the audio boot. - Page 19 Additional Features Removing Audio Boots 1. Press and hold the button on the front side of the audio boot. 2. Gently remove the audio boot from the hearing system.

Device Insertion - Earmould 1) Identify which earmould is for the left ear and which is for the right ear. The left ear will have a blue marking, and the right will have a red marking. 2) Gently connect the earmould and tube to the sound outlet of the BTE hook until a secure fit is achieved. -

Device Insertion - Open Fit Fitting Domes It is recommended that your hearing care professional change domes, as incorrect dome replacement could result in the dome falling out in the ear. Device Removal To remove the earmould from the ear, gently pull the bottom of your ear down with your thumb and finger, and twist the earmould out. NOTE: Do not pull the earmould tube directly, as it may break. To remove the open fitting eartip from the ear, gently pull the bottom of your ear down with your thumb and finger, and gently pull the eartip out. -

Troubleshooting In the unlikely event that you experience problems with your hearing system please consult the following chart to eliminate accidental errors. Expectations Your hearing system is not a cure for hearing loss. Listening in situations with background noise may still be a little difficult. Hearing benefits tend to be more apparent after a few weeks of regular wear. If the device feels loose in the ear gently push it into the ear until it feels secure. -
Page 28: Care & Maintenance
Care & Maintenance Your new hearing system is a precision engineered micro-electronic device and although it is robust in construction, it should always be handled with care to prolong its useful working life. Avoid dropping the hearing system. When replacing batteries or cleaning, always handle over something soft, such as a pillow or folded towel. - Page 29 Care & Maintenance As with other electronic devices, do not expose your device directly to moisture such as driving rain or water from the shower. Always remove the hearing system in situations where it may become contaminated with water or hairspray. If your hearing system does get wet or if it has been exposed to high humidity or perspiration, it should be left out to dry overnight with the battery out and the battery compartment open.

Care & Maintenance When not to wear your hearing system If you are experiencing drainage, pain, bleeding or infection in the ear, do not use your hearing system and seek medical advise. If you are exposed to sources of loud noises, power tools or heavy machinery, do not wear your hearing system. -
