OVERVIEW
Your Gateway provides you with wireless connectivity using the
802.11b, g, n, or ac standards. These are the most common wireless
standards.
802.11b has a maximum data rate of 11 Mbps, 802.11g has a maximum
data rate of 54 Mbps, 802.11n has a maximum data rate of 450 Mbps,
and 802.11ac has a maximum data rate of 1300 Mbps.
802.11b and g standards operate in the 2.4 GHz range. 802.11n
operates in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz ranges. 802.11ac operates in
the 5 GHz range.
Note:
802.11 b is a legacy mode and is not recommended. Even one 802.11b
device connected to the network will slow your entire wireless network.
The wireless service and wireless security are activated by default.
The level of security is preset to WPA2 encryption using a unique
default WPA2 key (also referred to as a passphrase or password) pre-
configured at the factory. This information is displayed on a sticker
located on the side of your Gateway.
