Setting up your DVR: Place your DVR on a flat surface and clear the area of any obstructive materials that may block proper airflow. If anything blocks the vents for airflow it may cause the DVR to overheat and not perform correctly. Plug in all video feeds in the order you wish to display them.

Setting the date & time: Now that you have logged in you will need to ensure that the date and time is set correctly. With the main menu on screen you will select Setting, General. Now, place the cursor over the date and time. Using the scroll wheel on the mouse, adjust the numbers up or down to set the date and time.

Schedule Recording: Now your DVR is ready to begin the rest of the setup. Ascendent recommends using Motion Record for each channel. To make changes to the recording type or schedule access the main menu and select Setting, Schedule. Choose the cameras from the drop down list and apply the type of recording you wish to use.

Setup Motion Recording Zones: Motion zones are important to save space on your hard drive, easily locate events, and extend the life of your DVR. To configure Motion Recording go to the Main Menu, select Setting, Detect. To change the region that triggers the Motion Record click “Select” from the Detect screen for each camera by choosing each channel individually or do all cameras at once by choosing “All”.

Search & Play an Event: To search for an event right-click the mouse from the previewing screen. Select Search from the drop down menu. Click on the clock in the lower left-hand corner to choose a date to begin your search. Dates with recording will appear highlighted.

Backup an Event: From the search and playback frame, select the desired events you wish to backup. Click the file save logo in the lower right-hand corner of the frame. With a USB stick inserted (or a DVD on DVD models) you will see the space available for backup.
