15-digit registers for calculation provide an accurate
12-digit display. The 12SR does not lose accuracy in
circular trigonometry when the angle becomes small.
For example try tan, followed by tan-

on the display. The calculator retains accuracy in
hyperbolic trigonometry when the angle becomes
negative (try sinh followed by sinh- 1 with -18 on the
display) and also in logarithms when numbers are very
close to 1 (try raising 1.0000001 to the 10000000
power and the answer is 2.718281693 • not e).
However. in any calculator the accuracy of the function
is dependent on the number of significant digIts and the
size of the numbers given. For example. in inverse
trigonometry when x is· near 1, subtraction from 1 is
required which may result in a loss of significant digits.
