Grille
& Cabinet
Wipe both sides of grille with a
clean cloth lightly dampened with
mild liquid dishwashingdetergent,
or clean with a vacuumcleaner
brush. Be carefil not to force the
movablelouvers out of position.
Other areas behind the grille may
be wiped or vacuumed, taking care
not to damage the coil fins.
Washcabinet with mild soap or
detergent and Iukewarm water.
Never use strong chemicals,
soIvenb or bleaching agerlb.

These coils on the weather side
of the unit should be checked
periodicaI]y and cleaned if clogged
withdirtor sootfromtheatmosphere.
If extremely soiled, they may need
tobe steamcleand, a serviceavaiIabIe
through your GE service outlet.
The air filter behind the front grille
should be checked and cleaned at
least every 30 daysor as often as it
needs cleaninp,
flush insidethe room or if the
windowsill extendsfarther into the
room than the chassis, it may be
necessary to removethe air inlet
grille beforethe filter can be
removed.
Grasp the tab at the bottom of the
unit and pull downward.
To remove the grille, pull the air
inlet grille out from top-center. The
filter is positionedon the back side
of the grille—graspthe tab and pull
down.
Afier cleaning, replace the air filter _z%

To
remove the filter:
grille into place.
Clean the filter with a vacuum
cleaner to remove light dust. Wash
the filter in lukewarm, soapy water
and rinse in clear water to remove
sticky dust.
The filter can be replaced with
either side facing the front.
