2. Check:
• brake drum inner surface

INSTALLING THE FRONT BRAKES

The following procedure applies to both of the
front brakes.
Reverse the "Removal" procedure.
Note the following points.
1. Lubricate:
• brake camshaft
• pivot pin
Lithium-soap-based grease
NOTICE

During installation, lightly grease the brake
camshaft and the pivot pin. Wipe off the

excess grease.
2. Install:
• brake camshaft
• brake camshaft lever
• brake camshaft spring
TIP
• Install the brake camshaft so its punch mark
a
is positioned as shown.
• Align the punch mark in the brake camshaft
with the mark on the brake camshaft lever.

CHAS
Use a rag soaked in
lacquer thinner or
solvent.
Use an emery cloth (light
and even polishing).
14 Nm (1.4 m · kg, 10.1 ft · lb)
