    GAS FIRED VENTED ROOM HEATER MODEL 61 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT: READ THIS MANUAL BEFORE INSTALLING AND USING THIS GAS HEATER. Installation and/or repair of this unit should only be done by a qualified installer. This appliance has been tested to and complies with ANSI Z21.11.1(1991) and CGA 1 - 2.1 - M86 with 1989 updates “Gas Fired Vented Room Heaters”, CAN/CGA - 2.17 - M91 “Gas Fired Appliances For Use At High Altitudes”.

    FREESTANDING INSTALLATION POSITIONING THE UNIT 1. Determine the exact position of your gas heater. If possible place the heater in such a manner that the piping will be placed between two wall studs so additional framing is not necessary. Also, try to place unit where flue pipe exit is between two ceiling joists.

    INSTALLING THE CHIMNEY SYSTEM WARNING: THIS GAS APPLIANCE MUST NOT BE CONNECTED TO A CHIMNEY FLUE SERVING ANOTHER TYPE OF APPLIANCE. Class "B" - 4" (101 mm) flue vent is required for this unit. Follow the vent pipe manufac- turer’s instruction or NFPA 54 (ANSI Z223.1 1988) for proper installation. Also see Figure 2 for minimum clearances to roof.

    REMOVING THE DOOR 1. Facing heater, the door latch is located on the right side just behind the door edge. 2. Release the door latch. Swing door all the way to the left. 3. Grasp top of door with both hands and raise up. D) WIRING - ROOM AIR BLOWER (See Figure 3) 1.

    CONNECTING THE GAS LINE CAUTION: INSTALLATION OF THE GAS LINE MUST ONLY BE DONE BY A QUALI- FIED PERSON IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL BUILDING CODES. 1. Connect gas line. An accessible shutoff valve must be installed up stream from the unit. NOTE: Do not run the incoming gas line in a manner that would obstruct the operation or removal of the fan.

    PREPARING LOG KIT 1. Open the cartons containing the Burner Base and the logs. Inside one of the cartons you will find the Burner Base. The logs are boxed separately and numbered as follows: Front (1) Rear Right Side Top (3) Left Side Top WARNING: POSITIONING OF THE LOGS IS VERY CRITICAL.

    MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS 1. This appliance should be inspected at least once a year by a professional service person. NOTE: Installation and repair should be done by a qualified service person. The appliance should be inspected before use and at least annually by a qualified service person.

    TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE The regulator board includes the following items: regulator, generator, pilot, Piezo, electrode, rocker switch, burner, orifice and orifice holder. If any of these items are defective, replacement of the entire board would be easier and would not void the warranty.
