VPN connections

You can connect your BlackBerry device to a virtual private network (VPN) over your mobile network or using a Wi-Fi
connection. While your device is connected to the VPN, you can send data to and receive data from the private network
across the public network.

Turn on flight mode

In some places, such as on an aeroplane or in a hospital, you need to turn off all the connections on your BlackBerry
device. Flight mode lets you quickly turn off your connections and, when you've finished using flight mode, turning off flight
mode restores the connections that were previously turned on.
1.
On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
2.
Tap
Settings.
3.
Turn on the Airplane Mode switch.

Mobile network

A mobile network connection allows your BlackBerry device to make calls and, if you have a data plan, use data services
such as Internet browsing. In some locations, such as in a hospital or on an aeroplane, you might need to turn off your
mobile network connection, but usually you can just leave your mobile network connection turned on.
In most cases your device automatically connects to the appropriate wireless network when you travel outside of your
wireless service provider's coverage area. If you're not sure whether your device is set up for roaming, or what roaming fees
will apply, it's a good idea to check with your wireless service provider before you travel.

Connect to the mobile network

To turn on your mobile network connection, flight mode must be turned off.
1.
On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
2.
Tap
Settings > Networks and Connections > Mobile Network.
3.
Turn on the Mobile Network switch.
To turn off your mobile network connection, turn off the Mobile Network switch.
Change the APN settings for your default Internet connection
Your BlackBerry device uses Access Point Name (APN) settings to open a data connection with your service provider's
wireless network. Apps on your device that require Internet access can use this connection.
