DUCT. DO NOT USE DUCT LONGER THAN
SPECIFIED IN THE EXHAUST LENGTH TABLE.
Using exhaust longer than speci ed length will
Increase the drying times and the energy cost.
Reduce the dryer life.
Accumulate lint, creating a potential re ha ard.
The correct exhaust installation is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
Problems due to incorrect installation are not covered by
the warranty.
The AXI U ALLOWABLE length of the exhaust system
depends upon the type of duct, num er of turns, the type of
exhaust hood wall cap , and all conditions noted elow. Both
rigid and exi le metal duct are shown in the ta le elow.
EXHAUST LENGTH
If using exi le metal duct, please refer to page 18.
EXHAUST SYSTEM CHECKLIST
HOOD OR WALLCAP
Terminate in a manner to prevent ack drafts or entry of irds or other
wildlife.
Termination should present minimal resistance to the exhaust air ow
and should re uire little or no maintenance to prevent clogging.
Never install a screen in or over the exhaust duct.
Wall caps must e installed at least 30 cm 12 in. a ove ground level or
any other o struction with the opening pointed down.
If roof vents or louvered plenums are used, they must e e uivalent to
a 10 cm 4 in. dampened wall cap in regard to resistance to air ow,
prevention of ack drafts, and maintenance re uired to prevent clogging.
SEPARATION OF TURNS
For est performance, separate all turns y at least 1.2 m 4 ft. of straight
duct, including distance etween last turn and dampened wall cap.
TURNS OTHER THAN 90º
One turn of 45 or less may e ignored.
Two 45 turns should e treated as one 90 turn.
Each turn over 45 should e treated as one 90 turn.
SEALING OF JOINTS
All oints should e tight to avoid leaks. The male end of each section of
duct must point away from the dryer.
Do not assem le the ductwork with fasteners that extend into the duct.
They will serve as a collection point for lint.
Duct oints should e made air- and moisture-tight y wrapping the
overlapped oints with duct tape.
