Attach cables
You can connect your printer to your computer with
either a:
• Parallel cable
• USB cable
You can connect your printer to the network with an
Ethernet cable (UTP cable with RJ.45 connector).
If you are connecting your printer to a computer with a
cable
parallel cable, use an IEEE 1284-compliant parallel
cable that supports bidirectional communication. We
recommend Lexmark part number 1329605 (10 ft) or
1247498 (20 ft).

Make sure the printer and computer (and any
attached peripherals) are turned off and
unplugged from their electrical outlets.

Plug one end of the cable into the parallel
connector as shown.

Snap down the clips at each end of the
connector.

Plug the other end of the parallel cable into the
connector on the back of the computer.
Tighten the cable screws securely.
