Configuring a Dynamic IP Address on your PC

If your local LAN, corporate network, or your ISP supports DHCP ,
this allows your PC to acquire initialization parameters (IP
addresses, masks, etc.) automatically.
These initialization parameters are valid for a limited period
(usually a few hours).
When these parameters expire, new parameters are obtained
automatically. Therefore your PC must be properly configured to
use BOOTP/DHCP .
The following instructions assume a Windows 9x environment.
Proceed as follows to enable DHCP client on your PC:

Browse to the 'TCP/IP Properties' window (with the 'IP Address' tab

selected) as described in the procedure of subsection 11.4.2.

If needed, tick
This setting specifies that the PC must obtain his IP address from a
DHCP server.

The 'Network' window reappears.

Some configuration files will be copied on your hard disk.
Restart your PC to allow the changes take effect.

After restart, the PC will acquire its own IP address from the DHCP
server using BOOTP/DHCP .
to save the changes and exit the window.
