Installation Procedures
as established in AC 43.13-1B, Chapter 10, section 2. Make appropriate entries in the equipment list
indicating items added, removed, or relocated along with the date accomplished. Include your name and
certificate number in the aircraft records. Table 2-12 identifies the weight of the new GNS 480 equipment
and Figure 2-13 shows the center of gravity.

2.11 Electrical Load Analysis

An electrical load analysis should be completed on each aircraft prior to installation in accordance with
AC 43.13-1B, Chapter 11. Use the following values for computation:
GNS 480 Input
GNS 480 Main Power (P1 connector)
with heater off
with heater on
GNS 480 NAV Power (P7 connector)
GNS 480 COM Power (P4 connector)
receive
transmit
Notes:
(1) Backlight heater element turns on when internal temperature is below approximately 42°C.
(2) Installations using the Main Power connector P1 to feed power to the NAV Power connector P7 must
add the NAV Power load to the Main Power load values.
Circuits should be protected in accordance with guidelines in AC 43.13-1B, chapter 11,
section 4. Power inputs should be across a minimum of all four specified input pins
.
