Open Circuit with the Ignition ON Check

Check as follows:
1. Turn the ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF).
2. Measure the voltage between pin D and F on the engine side of the 23–pin connector.
[a] If the voltage is less than 11.5 volts, repair the open between pin D of the
23–pin connector and pin 26 of the MCM 120–pin connector (see Figure 23-1).
Refer to section 23.1.3.1.

[b] If the voltage is between 11.5 and 13.5 volts, refer to section 23.1.3.
3. Swap the injector
[a] If fault code 651/5 is not active after swapping the injector, replace the original
injector. Refer to section 23.1.3.1.
[b] If fault code 651/5 is still active after swapping the injector, call the Detroit Diesel
Customer Service Center (313–592–5800).
