  • Page 3 Note: Many times throughout this User’s Guide, we will refer to Carbon Monoxide as “CO”. This Kidde carbon monoxide (CO) alarm is an important part of your family’s home safety plan. This alarm has been designed and tested to detect CO buildup in a residential environment. Your alarm is for use specifically in the home.

  • Page 5 1. Information About Carbon Monoxide General Carbon Monoxide Information Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and tasteless poison gas that can be fatal when inhaled. CO inhibits the blood’s capacity to carry oxy- gen. Periodically review this alarm manual and discuss your CO alarm emer- gency procedure with all the members of your family.

    • When alarms are interconnected, all interconnected units must be powered from a single circuit. • A maximum of 24 Kidde devices may be interconnected in a multiple- station arrangement. The interconnect system should not exceed the NFPA interconnect limit of 12 smoke alarms and/or 18 alarms total...

  • Page 14 4. Installation Instructions Mounting • After selecting the proper location for your CO alarm and wiring the AC Quick- Connector harness, plug the AC Quick- Connector into the mating connector in the back of the alarm. Be sure the con- nectors snap together securely.
  • Page 15 CO is eliminated. If this unit is interconnected with other Kidde CO alarms, the amber LED (Initiating Alarm) of the unit which has detected the CO, will light for the duration of the alarm.

  • Page 19 7. Maintenance Alarm Removal Turn off the power to the alarm. Remove the alarm from the electrical box by unscrewing the four screws under the cover securing the alarm. Disconnect the AC Quick-Connector harness by pulling the connector apart. To permanently deactivate the battery for return or disposal purposes prior to it reaching end of life: turn off AC power, remove the alarm from the electrical box, disconnect the AC wires, puncture the label on the back of the unit, and press the small switch using a pen or other...
