IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
When pulling the starter rope, do not
use the full extent of the rope as this can
cause the rope to break. Do not let start-
er rope snap back. Hold the handle and
let the rope rewind slowly. For cold
weather starting, start the unit at

NOTE: Do not attempt to cut material
with the choke/fast idle lever in the

STARTING A COLD ENGINE (or warm
engine after running out of fuel)
NOTE: In the following steps, when the
choke/fast idle lever is pulled out to the
full extent, the correct throttle setting for
starting is set automatically.
1. Move
ON/STOP

2. Pull choke/fast idle lever out to the
full extent (to the

3. Slowly press primer bulb 6 times.
4. This unit has the Sim- -pult starting
system. You do not have to pull the
starter rope handle sharply or briskly.
Using your right hand, pull starter
rope handle 5 times with a controlled
and steady motion. Then, proceed
to the next step.
NOTE: If the engine sounds as if it is try-
ing to start before the 5th pull, stop pull-
ing and immediately proceed to the next
step.
5. Push the choke/fast idle lever in to

6. Pull the starter rope sharply with
your right hand until the engine
starts.
7. Allow the engine to run for approxi-
mately 30 seconds. Then, squeeze
and release the throttle trigger to
allow engine to return to idle
speed.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. Move
ON/STOP

2. Pull the choke/fast idle lever out to

DIFFICULT STARTING (or starting a
flooded engine)
The engine may be flooded with too
much fuel if it has not started after 10
pulls. Flooded engines can be cleared
of excess fuel by pushing the choke/
fast idle lever in completely (to the
position) and then following the
