Keys
You receive one master key
and one spare key. If a key is
lost, please note the informa-
tion on the electronic immobi-
lizer (EWS) ( 37).
Ignition key and steer-
ing lock, tank filler cap
lock and seat lock are all op-
z
erated with the same key. On
request the cases (OA) and
the Topcase (OA) can be op-
erated with the same key.
Switching on ignition
Turn key to position 1.
Parking lights and all func-
tion circuits switched on.
Engine can be started.
Pre-ride check is
performed. ( 59)
With OE BMW Motorrad Inte-
gral ABS:
Turn key to position 1.
Parking lights and all func-
tions are switched on.
Engine can be started.

ABS self-diagnosis is per-
formed. ( 60)
Switching off ignition
Brake servo assistance
is not available when the
ignition is off.
Do not switch off the ignition
while the motorcycle is being
ridden.
Turn key to position 2.
Light switched off.
Handlebars not locked.
Key can be removed.
