Configuring the Volume Settings for NOOK Features
Your NOOK lets you individually adjust the audio volume for:
•
Music
•
Notifications (such as the arrival of new email or a NOOK Friends request)
•
Alarms
To change audio volumes, do this:
1.
Open the General settings screen by tapping the General menu choice on the All Settings screen.
2.
Find the SOUNDS section in the scrollable panel on the right.
3.
Slide the knob on the volume control you want to adjust.
Your change takes effect right away.
By default, your NOOK plays a quiet clicking sound when you unlock the screen saver. To turn this sound off, tap the
Screen lock sound toggle switch and leave it in the OFF position.
Configuring Date and Time Settings
Changing the Time Zone Used by Your NOOK
To change the time zone used by your NOOK, do this:
1.
Open the General settings screen by tapping the General menu choice on the All Settings screen.
2.
Find the DATE & TIME section in the scrollable panel on the right. Tap the Select time zone menu choice.
Your NOOK displays a scrollable list of international time zones.
3.
Tap the time zone you want to use.
Your NOOK changes its clock to use the time zone you selected and returns you to the General settings screen.
Choosing a 12-hour or 24-hour Clock Format
By default, your NOOK uses a 24-hour clock format. It numbers hours 1 to 24.
Optionally, you can switch to a 12-hour format in which hours are numbered 1 to 12. In a 12-hour format, 13:00
becomes 1:00 PM.
To switch to a 12-hour format, do this:
1.
Open the General settings screen by tapping the General menu choice on the All Settings screen.
2.
Find the DATE & TIME section in the scrollable panel on the right. Tap the Use 24-hour format toggle switch so it
reads OFF.
Your NOOK switches to a 12-hour format.
To return to a 24-hour format, tap the Use 24-hour format toggle switch so it reads ON.
Changing the Date Format
By default your NOOK displays the date in a format commonly used in the country you specified when you regis-
tered your NOOK.
To change the date format, do this:
