Symptom
Printouts are too dark even
though the background of
the scanned original is white.
Copies have a moire pattern
(dots grouped together in
patterns and not aligned
uniformly).
Black dots appear on the
white background when
white original is scanned.
Printouts have vertical lines.
Images are skewed.
Checkpoints
Have you changed the density?
Is the original a printed photograph?
Is the original cover or the glass platen
dirty?
Is the slit glass dirty?
Are the originals loaded correctly?
Is the paper loaded correctly?
Corrective Actions
Select appropriate density level.
Set the original image to [Photo].
Clean the original cover or the glass
platen.
Clean the slit glass.
When placing originals on the platen, align
them with the original size indicator plates.
When placing originals in the document
processor, align the original width guides
securely before placing the originals.
Check the position of the paper width
guides.
