Steering Lock Device

A boat with a rudder (such as a sailboat)
can be steered with the boat's rudder if the
engine is locked in the straight-ahead posi-
tion. Lock the steering lock lever to the
steering lock plate.

NOTE:
If the sailboat does not move straight ahead
when engine is locked with the steering lock
lever and the boat's rudder is set straight,
readjust the outboard's steering handle
angle with the adjustment bolts.
If the engine is forced to turn right or left
when the steering is locked, the steering
plate is designed to break to protect the out-
board motor. If the plate breaks, remove the
screw and replace the plate.
NOTE:
A spare plate is contained in the outboard's
original packing.

TRIM ANGLE ADJUSTING ROD

The position of the trim angle adjusting rod
determines the minimum trim angle of the
outboard motor in relation to the transom.
