4 Troubleshooting
4.1 Before sending in the appliance
Before contacting your authorised Dirt Devil dealer, Dirt Devil service partner or appliance market. check if you can solve the problem yourself by following
the instructions in the table below.
WARNING:
Danger of injury! Never use a defective appliance. Before starting troubleshooting, switch off the appliance and pull out the mains plug, chapter 2.4,

Possible cause
4.4 Disposal
Dispose of the appliance in compli-
ance with the environmental protec-
tion laws of your country. Electrical
waste may not be disposed of to-
gether with domestic waste.
Use local old-appliance collection points in-
stead. The filters and dust filter bags are made
from environment-friendly materials. You can
dispose of the filters in normal domestic waste.
The same is true of the dust filter bag, providing
it does not contain substances not permitted in
domestic waste.


Switch off the vacuum cleaner and pull the plug from the mains socket.
Eliminate the cause of overheating (e.g. clogged suction channels, etc.).
Wait for about 45 minutes. When the appliance has cooled off, you may switch
it on again.
Change the dust filter bag chapter 3.1, „Changing the dust filter bag".
Remove the obstacle. If necessary, use a long wooden stick (e.g. a broom-
stick) to do this.
Clean the respective filter, chapter 3.3, „Changing the exhaust filter" or
chapter 3.4, „Changing the motor protection filter".
Change the nozzle (Fig. 2).
Set the "carpet/hard floor" switch to the correct position for the particular type
of floor, chapter 2.3, „Vacuum cleaning", step 2.
