EasyStartup problems

The following table describes the EasyStartup problems and suggested actions to
correct detected problems.

v Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem is
resolved.
v See the Chapter 7, "Parts Listing, TS200v Machine Types 0981, 0992, 1008, and 1010," on page 63 to determine
which components are customer replaceable units (CRUs) and which components are field replaceable units
(FRUs).
Symptom
The ThinkServer
EasyStartup DVD will
not start.
The operating-system
installation program
continuously loops.
The EasyStartup
program will not start
the operating-system
medium.

Miscellaneous error messages

Message/Symptom
Changing display colors
Computer will not power-off. See "Power
Supply Problems" on page 16.
Computer will not RPL from server
Action
v Make sure the server supports the EasyStartup program and has a startable (bootable)
DVD drive.
v If the startup (boot) sequence settings have been changed, make sure the DVD drive is
first in the startup sequence.
v If more than one DVD drive is installed, make sure that only one DVD drive is set as
the primary drive. Start the EasyStartup DVD from the primary DVD drive.
Make more space available on the hard disk drive.
Make sure that the operating-system medium is supported by the EasyStartup program.
See the EasyStartup User Guide for a list of supported operating-system versions. The
EasyStartup User Guide and compatibility notes are available through the EasyStartup
program.
Description/Action
Pressing the TAB key permits the user to
toggle between the default POST display
screen and a custom POST display screen.
The BIOS was unable to find a suitable boot
device.
Make sure the boot drive is properly
connected to the computer.
Make sure you have bootable media.
