Press brake pads in brake
caliper 2 apart slightly by
rocking back and forth A in
relation to brake disks 3.

Mask off parts of wheel rim
that could be scratched when
removing brake caliper.
Carefully pull brake caliper back
and out until clear of brake
disks.
Place motorcycle on a suitable
auxiliary stand.
with center stand
Make sure ground is level and
firm and place motorcycle on
center stand.
with BMW Motorrad ABS
Remove screw 1 and take ABS
sensor out of hole.
Raise front of motorcycle un-
til the front wheel can turn
freely. To lift motorcycle, BMW
Motorrad recommends using
BMW Motorrad front wheel
stand.

Unscrew right-hand axle clamp-
ing screws 2.
Remove axle screw 3.
Unscrew left-hand axle clamp-
ing screws 4.
