To see or to change the WAN setup:
1.
Sign in to the web user interface.
2.
From the main menu, select Router Settings > Advanced > Firewall > Miscellaneous.
3.
Specify the following settings:
Disable Port Scans and DoS Protections: This is cleared, letting the firewall protect
your LAN against port scans and denial of service attacks. Select this check box only
in special circumstances.
Default DMZ Server: This feature is sometimes helpful when you are using some
online games and videoconferencing. Using this feature makes the firewall security
less effective. See
Respond to Ping on Internet: Lets your router respond to a ping from the Internet.
This feature should be used only as a diagnostic tool, because it lets your router be
discovered.
MTU Size: Maximum transmit unit (MTU) value. For most Ethernet networks, this
setting is:
1500 bytes;
1492 bytes for PPPoE connections; or
1436 bytes for PPTP connections.
NAT Filtering: This parameter is set to Secured to provide a secure firewall,
protecting computers on the LAN from attacks. The Open setting is less secure.
Disable SIP ALG: Some Voice over IP (VoIP) applications do not work well with
Session Initiation Protocol Application-level gateway (SIP ALG). Selecting this might
help your VoIP devices create or accept a call through the router.
4.
Click Apply.
